Script Development Psychology Teacher

Here is the script development for our interview with a psychology teacher:

Potential questions for interviewee (psychology teacher) – STAGE 1

1.      What is your view on violence in the media and how can it affect people psychologically?
2.      In your opinion has violence become a way of life for some people, because it is so often in the media?
3.      What is your view on the watershed? Is it effective?
4.      Do you think there is a correlation between crime and the amount of violence in the media?
5.      Do you think crime rates would go down if there was less violence in the media?
6.      Why do you think young people are attracted to violence in the media?
7.      Can violence in the media can cause people to commit violent crimes?
8.      Do you think that violence in the media affects the way children behave?

Potential questions for interviewee (psychology teacher) – STAGE 2

1.      What is your view on violence in the media and how can it affect people psychologically?
2.      In your opinion has violence become a way of life for some people, because it is so often in the media?
3.      Do you think there is a correlation between crime and the amount of violence in the media?
4.      Do you think crime rates would go down if there was less violence in the media?
5.      Why do you think young people are attracted to violence in the media?
6.      Can violence in the media can cause people to commit violent crimes?
7.      Do you think that violence in the media affects the way children behave?

Why – the watershed question relates to more than just violence in the media which is not what we are focusing on when having interviews.

Potential questions for interviewee (psychology teacher) – STAGE 3

1.      What is your view on violence in the media and how can it affect people psychologically?
2.      In your opinion has violence become a way of life for some people, because it is so often in the media?
3.      Do you think there is a correlation between crime and the amount of violence in the media?
4.      Why do you think young people are attracted to violence in the media?
5.      Can violence in the media can cause people to commit violent crimes?
6.      Do you think that violence in the media affects the way children behave?

Why – we have already got a question which talks about violence and crimes which would mean just repeating ourselves when it comes to talking about the correlation between the two topics.

Potential questions for interviewee (psychology teacher) – STAGE 4

1.      In your opinion has violence become a way of life for some people, because it is so often in the media?
2.      Do you think there is a correlation between crime and the amount of violence in the media?
3.      Why do you think young people are attracted to violence in the media?
4.      Can violence in the media can cause people to commit violent crimes?
5.      Do you think that violence in the media affects the way children behave?

Why – we got rid of this question because it was too vague for asking someone in an interview and we didn’t want to waste valuable time asking questions like it.

Channels Research

As a group we decided on using Channel 4 for our documentary, as it has a target audience of teenagers and adults (which is an audience we aim to attract), and it has a good reputation for quirky expository documentaries (which we hope ours will be).
